The City of Cokato is accepting applications for an Open Council seat. The seat is to fill the remainder of the term (Term ends December 31, 2024).

Applications are due November 28, 2023 4:00 p.m.  Applications can be found here or may be picked up at City Hall.

The council will review for consideration and possibly interview on December 4, 2023. The appointment of a new member will happen at their December 11, 2023 City Council meeting.

Public Comment Sought for County's Hazard Mitigation Plan

Wright County has completed an updated draft of its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) and is now seeking public feedback. Planning for natural disasters minimizes the impact of these events that can cause vast economic loss and personal hardship. Community feedback is vital to the success of the plan.

Winter Weather Information

Due to the snow that we just received, we would like to inform residents on items dealing with the winter and snow fall.  Click the title for information on Mailbox and sidewalk snow removal and winter parking.

There will be an open house for Gordy Erickson at City Hall this Friday, 12/30/2022 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for his service to the city.  All are welcome. Cookies and Coffee will be served.

Winter Parking Ordinance

Winter Parking Notice – The City of Cokato’s Winter Parking rules will go into effect on November 15, 2022.   No person shall stop, stand, or park any vehicle or permit it to stand on any street in the City between the hours of 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on any day from November 15, 2022 through April 15, 2023 . Reminder that the city ordinance regarding parking is available for review at city hall or on the city website on the City Code Page, under Title VII - Traffic Code: Ordinance #70.11.

Hiring: Public Works Maintenance Worker

The Cokato Community Pool Opens Friday June 10, 2022

The City of Cokato pool repairs have been completed (thanks to the contractor getting to it quickly!) and the pool will be open on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.

Cokato Pool Opening – Coming Soon
The City of Cokato is working on getting the pool ready for Summer 2022.  We have had some unexpected repairs in the pool that had to be made.  The good news is the repairs have been made, the bad news the repaired area needs to remain dry until next week.  The pool was scheduled to be open on June 6, 2022 however this may delay the pool opening to later in the week (no later than June 13, 2022).  Thank you

USS Charger Solar LLC has Proposed adding a solar farm in the City of Cokato.

Wright County Seeking Public Input

The Wright County Office of Emergency Management is working with U-Spatial at the University of Minnesota Duluth to update the county’s Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (MHMP). The plan assesses the natural hazards that pose risk to the county, such as tornadoes, straight line winds, ice storms, blizzards, wildfire, flooding, and extreme temperatures and identifies ways to minimize the damage of future events. As the county works to update the plan, it wants to hear from the public.

Central City Phase II - Update

The Central City Phase II project has been awarded to Landwehr Construction from St. Cloud, MN. The project is in progress and scheduled to be complete in November 2021.

2021 Street Repair and Overlay Project

The 2021 Street Repair and Overlay Project has been awarded to Mid-Minnesota Hot Mix and is scheduled to start September 27th, 2021.

New Water Meters

Central City Project - Phase I Update

The Center City - Phase I project will be wrapping up this year. RL Larson will be back to put the finishing touches on the curbs and streets.

Center City Project - Phase II

Center City Road Project Phase II - The project has been approved by the City Council and a bid was accepted at the April 12th council meeting. Landwehr Construction from St. Cloud, MN will be contracted to complete Phase II of the project. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
