Small Cities Development Program

Excellent opportunities are on the horizon for the City of Cokato with the assistance of the Small Cities Development Program.

The City of Cokato was awarded Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) grants through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). This program aims to help smaller communities preserve their existing homes as safe, healthy, and affordable options for future generations.

The SCDP program in Cokato offers low-to-moderate-income homeowners through grants and low-interest loans, based on household size and income, the opportunity for homeowners to apply for funds, up to $25,000 per home, for eligible rehab projects such as new siding, shingles, insulation, updated plumbing, electrical, handicap accessibility, energy-efficient windows, doors, furnace and/or water heater, and replacing lead paint and/or pipes.

The Cokato City Council is encouraging eligible homeowners to take full advantage of this program to maximize the impact that this program can make in your community. This program will only be active for a limited time and is on a first-come-first-served basis; homeowners are encouraged to begin the application process as early as possible. Like anything worthwhile, it takes some time to complete all of the steps of the SCDP program (application process, building inspection, contractor bidding, and the rehab itself).

If you are interested in learning more about this program or would like to fill out an application, please get in touch with Christy Lundberg, Services Coordinator with Development Services, Inc. (DSI), at (507) 694-1552 or via e-mail at christy@dsi-services.com.
